Solution Installing the Funambol SyncML client on a BlackBerry smartphone

Purpose & Scope

This article explains how to install the latest version of the Funambol SyncML client on a BlackBerry device, as well as how to set it up to connect to an MDaemon server and synchronize an account's calendar events, contacts, and tasks to the device, as well as vice-versa.
Procedure

From the BlackBerry device:

1) Scroll to the Browser icon, and click on it
2) Enter in the following URL for the desired version of the Funambol client:
a. If your phone uses BlackBerry OS 4.7 or higher, go to http://my.funambol.com/bb/sync2.jad
b. If your phone uses BlackBerry OS 4.6 or lower, go to http://my.funambol.com/bb/sync.jad
3) Click the Download button to start downloading the Funambol client
4) Click the OK button when the file has downloaded
5) Push the back button to exit the browser
6) Navigate to the Downloads folder if your BlackBerry has one, and click it
7) Click on the Funambol icon to start the program

Now that Funambol is open, you can start configuring it to connect to MDaemon.

1) Press the BlackBerry button to open the Funambol menu
2) Scroll to Settings and click it
3) Enter http://mail.domain.com:3000/MDSyncML.dll under Server Location, with 'mail.domain.com' being the hostname of your MDaemon server, and '3000' for the WorldClient port, if required
4) Put in the email address you use to log into WorldClient under Username
5) Put in the password you use to log into WorldClient under Password
6) Scroll down to Sync Contacts and change Remote Name to './contacts/blackberry' (ASSUMING THEY HAVE A SUBFOLDER CALLED BLACKBERRY UNDER CONTACTS - OTHERWISE JUST './contacts')
7) Scroll down to Sync Calendar and change Remote Name to './calendar'
8) Scroll down to Sync Tasks and change Remote Name to './tasks'
9) Uncheck Sync Notes
10) Press the BlackBerry button and select Save, then click on it
11) Press the BlackBerry button and choose Sync All, then click on it to start the sync

Comments:

If you are not sure what version of the BlackBerry OS your device is running, scroll to the Options icon and click on it, then select About and click on that.
